As things currently stand I would just pull from the multiple choice the units and make it the suffix, something like this. Mutliple Choice units as suffix • Activity Builder by Desmos

It would be best if Desmos could properly support units, but I can see the difficulty in parsing them. The only true distinction between
3 m
(three × m)
and
3 m
(three metres)
is the upright font on the latter.
