btw there is a loophole to get around the student as teacher block and vice versa, but it needs to have had a account before this switch happend
What “loophole” are you referring to?
Hi @ntmdev - thank you for reaching out. Based on the description here - that it is possible to view and edit activities, but Google login is blocked - the most likely explanation is that the Amplify app needs to be approved for SSO and marked as a “Trusted” third party app, which does need to be done by a district Google Administrator (as outlined in this FAQ).
If app approval is required, this does not block the ability to edit and view activities; it only blocks SSO through Google.
There are not typically additional steps from Amplify required for approval. For those who mentioned this: if your District Administrator has noted that this is the case, please ask them to open a Support Case with Amplify. If you’d like, you can DM me the details for the Support Case, and I will make sure that this is expedited!
lol I’m not actually a teacher (if you thought I am). I’m a student just like @bhssingul and just trying to help out since I have a pretty advanced knowledge on tech and stuff.
Basically what I thought with the certificate idea.
Yes that students are receiving the error message “Access blocked: Your institution’s admin needs to review this app” when trying to log in. I guess that’s a good sign that that seems to be the issue you’re describing and there may be steps to follow to fix all of this.
I’m not sure when or how I’ll be able to get through to IT about these issues. We have a massive IT department with similarly massive wait times for tickets and this is a far from a trivial amount of time and work to follow through on. As I’m sure you can appreciate, we can’t wait for lessons that need to happen today.
I believe you mean “blocked” as SSO is blocked correct, not Amplify?
The error message is exactly as decscribed.
This started with the changeover from Amplify this year. So I’d consider it both an Amplify and School Board problem.
Considering Amplify just yesterday emailed about trying to fix some of these problems across its entire customer base, I’d say the root of this is not school boards, but the burden of solving it is.
We have… I have… created an wealth of resources that we, and many others in our school board, use. Or used to use. An enormous amount of time has been spent in creating these - it’s Activities that are squarely at issue here.
Okay then… seems like I might not be able to help here
Hi @Mike_Gleeson - thank you for confirming about the error message students are receiving. I am very sorry for the disruption you have been experiencing.
While you are awaiting organization approval for students to log in with Google, you may be able to use this workaround for students to log in access activities. You can generate usernames and passwords for students, and they can use the “Log in with Amplify” option: Generate student usernames and passwords. After the Amplify Google app is approved, it will still be possible for those students to use “Log in with Google” as well.
I hope this may help your students get access more quickly. Again, we greatly appreciate your patience and communication.
if you already have made an account on these forums before the switch happens, you can get around the redirect to the student homepage by clicking on,for example marble slides, and hitting the search bar.(i hope it doesnt get fixed tho, becuase i use it ;{D
Thank you for that alternative.
The scope of this does not make it reasonable. We have 246 000 students in our school board. I just happen to be someone who is, or rather was, advocating and supporting teachers in implementing Activities system wide as much as I could.
This isn’t just a me problem, but I also don’t have any more time to try to fix this on my own.
