How to make students HAVE TO press an action button every time they change an entry in the table

My question is on slide 9. Students are estimating a line of fit so I put in a range for slope and y-int for cell (1,2). Cell (1,3) will give them a ‘secret’ number when their line is within a certain range.

  1. I got the number NOT to show up as soon as they type in an initial equation that is in range. For example: y=10x+135.5 won’t show as correct unless they push submit a.

Sample:

  1. Issue: If students put in an incorrect equation, press the button, then go back and put in y=10x+135, the ‘secret’ number will show up even if they haven’t typed in any decimals, which, if they have them, I WANT them to type in.

I can’t get the button press count to reset.

  1. There is some extra code in the button because I tried to tie the number reveal to the last value captured by the button. The extra graph is there to possibly record the history of the values captured (suggested by another post). These may not be necessary. I dunno!

The problem is that pressCount in a button can’t actually reset. The resetOnChange sink works with timeSincePress(). So if you change from checking that pressCount is greater than 0 to timeSincePress() being greater than 0, the resetOnChange sinks will work like you want.
