Feedback on optimizing "code"?

I have a lot of unoptimized “code” (sorry, im new to desmos and I rlly only know how to put this into programming terms.) My computer is awful and apparently cannot run more lines than this, but I want to add more features, so I need to simplify my math. I was wondering if anyone would be able to point out stuff I made in rather indirect or unnecessarily complicated ways. I know theres easier ways to do this, it’s a relatively simple project. I think my main concern is finding a way to group all the colors into one list of polygons but still have the tone function work. I also want to add the ability to scroll and have more columns of notes, so if anyone has some ideas for that, let me know as well. Here is the link. I plan on submitting this to the art expo and i’ll credit any and all help I receive. https://www.desmos.com/calculator/sptpc2t8ht

I believe the polygon functions for hiding the play area are not needed because you can use restrictions to control the bounds of where the lines go. I can’t find the play area functions though, is it an image?

I do also ask a favor from you: would you bug test/give feedback on this project I made?

graph

I’m also submitting that graph into the Art Expo. Good luck!

Ah, thank you, I was using four different polygons I didnt think of that! and I would absolutely look at that graph.

It looks like you may have updated your graph since I took my shot at it. The “Color squares” folder basically combines your “red” through “pink” folders into one set of polygons and colors. I similarly combined your tones into one list in the “stuff I haven’t sorted yet” folder.

I left a bunch of comments in the graph, but let me know if you’d like any extra explanations.

(Edit: I also updated the ticker to use a mod() function so that it cycles back to 0 to replay it instead of just continuing on.)

I was going to say you could use join if you didn’t want to manually do the combining of the color lists, but seems like Daniel was very kind and already did it.

Thank you so much thats so helpful!

That graph is awesome! Sadly your level of math comprehension is much above mine and I don’t really have any useful feedback haha! I’m only in 11th grade and have only taken up to algebra 2.

Oh wow 11th grade? That’s so cool!! I’m a sad 7th grader. The feedback doesn’t have to be useful… any bugs like 1+1=3 or something like that are welcome. Anything, really.

Also your music lab thing is also very cool. Can’t figure it out.

another thing you could try to do could be putting all your other projects into one table, and ignore the error function?

Wdym when you say “put all your projects in one table”? I’m also confused with this:

i was talking to @BadAtMath ,she could put all her projects in a table, and ignore the error sign that would precede

btw im in 7th grade too

holy cow you’re advanced for 7th grade i thought u were an adult… how are u not in college already!!

ah i see what you mean, but im not seeing an error sign? I use the note function to keep them from showing as equations

to @bhssingul: okay got it.

to @BadAtMath: haha not really. I am not in college yet. I’ve got a long way to go. Although I do like math.

I also saw on ur profile that you know a lot of coding languages, my dad is a computer engineer and I know a bit from him and classes I’ve taken. Did you ever use Scratch when you were younger? I used to love it.

Yes I did! I actually made a platformer game by myself for a school tech project. I can’t find it anymore… but it was pretty cool.

Thats awesome! I made a fruit ninja game a while back using the camera and the motion sensors. Have you used Thunkable? its like a step up from scratch, my computer class made me use it but then it became my default for when I need to quickly make a basic website to hold lists and stuff

That’s so cool. What language does your dad use? I know Python and Java well… and the other 6 I just know a bit about.

No i have not used thunkable before. You must be pretty good at math… seems like you know a lot about coding.
