How to use parentheses in computation layer

I am checking students answers and they need to enter cos^2(x)-(1-cos^2(x))

I can get it to be cos^2(x)-1-cos^2(x) --(“\cos^{2}x-1-\cos^{2}x”) but I can’t figure out how to add the parentheses around the expression 1-cos^2(x).

Anytime you need latex formatting, the easiest way is to type the expression in the desmos calculator, then copy it, and paste it into CL. It will paste with the correct latex formatting.

That worked! Thank you so much!

Depending on what you want from students checking their answers using a hidden graph is a chance to offer a bit more flexibility in student answers.

Here is an example.
