Once enabled under Desmos Labs, students can upload images as part of a text response… but only if that Activity is assigned as part of a Desmos Class.
Why might this limitation be?
Great question. We always try to be extra careful in making sure teachers can manage what students are sharing with each other when we add a feature like this. Teachers have more control in classes, hence starting the release there. However, we’re planning to change some things in the coming days based on feedback like this! First, we plan to make it so that images are no longer shared with other students (they’ll still go to the teacher). That change will allow us to hopefully add image upload to single session codes as well.

Update: Image upload is now enabled for both classes and single session codes. This applies to new activity sessions.
